This is such a big milestone! We are so excited for you to show off your new, beautiful smile. But remember, crossing the finish line with braces or Invisalign® Treatment is just the start of a new chapter. To keep your teeth in their perfect new positions, the retention stage is super important. We are here to help you protect your investment so your smile stays exactly the way you love it!
Why Retention is Your Smile’s Best Friend
Once your braces are removed, your teeth need a little help staying put while the bone and gums settle. This phase usually lasts at least 24 months, and your final result depends on wearing your retainers as directed. Think of it as the strategic final step to achieve your goals now!
It is totally normal to feel eager to be "done," but following through with retention ensures that all your hard work pays off for a lifetime.
Customized Retainer Options for You
We use advanced technology to provide high-quality retainers that are comfortable and effective. We want you to feel at ease while wearing them!
- Vivera™ Retainers: These are nearly invisible trays that fit snugly over your teeth.
- Bonded Retainers: These are tiny, customized wires placed on the back (tongue side) of your teeth where nobody can see them!
Taking Care of Your Retainers
Your retainers are cutting-edge tools for your smile, but they can be fragile. Here is how to keep them in great shape:
- Keep it Safe: When your retainer isn't in your mouth, it should always be in its special case. (Most retainers are lost in school cafeterias or restaurants!)
- Keep it Clean: Brush your retainer with warm water and toothpaste every time you brush and floss your teeth. We even recommend using a little denture cleaner for an extra fresh feel!
- Participation is Key: Take your removable retainer out when eating, swimming, or playing sports that need mouthguards.
Retainers Reviews
I found Dr. Bob on Google, after a certain orthodontist who shall remain nameless (here's a hint, it begins with a G and ends in an H 🤣) refused to repair my top permanent retainer. Actually, all I needed was one dot of bonding glue to adhere the wire back to a tooth. That's it. The doctor, at the other place, was extremely RUDE and did not bother to explain why he refused to do the repair. I will light that place up, on a separate review. Don't you worry. Back to Dr. Bob, he is so nice, friendly, personable, a good listener, and just awesome. He took the time to assess the top retainer and tell me exactly what would be done including the bonding agent that seemed to work well on an employee there. He gave me the good and the bad which I truly appreciated. He let me know my options should this not work, but he remained optimistic and didn't allow me and my mind to stay in the place of "what ifs". lol. I wish I found Dr. Bob sooner, but better late than never. If I ever need anything else related to orthodontia, I will be sure to see Dr. Bob. I will definitely refer anybody that I even remotely mention needing orthodontia to Dr. Bob, as well! Keep up the awesome work Dr. Bob and team!
